The Rise of a Young Star: From Pharmacy to Fame

We first met him as the “child” in ‘Farmacia de guardia’, and he won our hearts with his role in ‘Compañeros’. The 1990s marked a golden era in television, with numerous shows gracing our screens. Among these, one series shone brighter than the others—Farmacia de guardia. This production aired on Antena 3 and is renowned for being the most-watched series in Spain’s television history, drawing an average audience of 6.5 million viewers (48.5%) over its 169 episodes.

The Commitment of Viewers

Every Thursday from 1991 to 1995, viewers eagerly tuned in to follow the daily happenings of Spain’s most famous pharmacy. The show was anchored by a talented cast led by Concha Cuetos as Lourdes Cano, a strong-willed pharmacist going through a separation. Her ex-husband, Adolfo Segura, was portrayed by Carlos Larrañaga. The plot also revolved around their children, including Isabel (Eva Isanta), who lived in the Canary Islands; Kike (Miguel Ángel Garzón), the couple’s eldest son; and Guille (Julián González), the youngest of the Segura Cano family.

The Journey of Julián González

As we reminisce about this beloved series and its characters, many have wondered what became of the “boy from Farmacia de guardia,” known as Julián González. The young actor captivated audiences with his playful antics alongside his on-screen friends Piña and Marmota, quickly becoming a rising star at just 11 years old.

One year after Farmacia de guardia concluded, Julián Gonzalez landed a lead role in Menudo es mi padre, where he played the middle child of the main character, played by El Fary. His subsequent work in 1998 established him as one of the era’s young talents. The actor took on the character of César in the iconic series Compañeros, a role he maintained for four years, from 1998 to 2002. After the show wrapped up, he participated in Compañeros, no te fallaré, the cinematic adaptation of the series, as well as in the films Pobre Juventud and La última guardia, created to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Farmacia de guardia.

A Shift Towards Design

Julián González also engaged in various projects such as the play Las bicicletas son para el verano. However, he decided to pivot his career towards a passion he had nurtured since childhood. In an interview with Tu Reforma, he explained his love for architecture was always evident. He aspired to study it but couldn’t due to poor grades at school. Instead, he embraced another path in decoration and interior design.

As a result, Julián began to carve out his niche in the real estate design industry, stepping away from acting to dedicate himself to home design. He acquired skills and knowledge that allowed him to provide professional services. Reports suggest he works with LMG Reformas, a company focused on developing plans and projects that range from comprehensive renovations to elegant interior designs tailored for affluent clients.
